Founded in 1878 and known as Western University since 2012, this public research university offers more than 400 undergraduate programs, many of which are modular. Students can combine programs from different faculties. In addition there are unique programs for high achieving scholars. It is regarded as one of the country’s most beautiful universities with its 400 acre site and architecture from Gothic-style buildings to modern sustainable structures. It is situated in the city of London, which lies midway between Toronto and Detroit USA and close to Lake Erie. It is called the Forest City because it boasts more than 200 parks, woodlands and meadows. The city has a large student population and a young upbeat feel. There are a number of historic buildings and museums including Banting House, once the home of the man, who conceived of the idea of extracting insulin from the pancreas. The city has an international airport.
