Founded in 1636 this is one of the oldest universities in the Netherlands. Its main campus is in the heart of the old town. It offers 10 Bachelor programmes in English in a range of disciplines including Celtic Languages and Culture Global Sustainability Science and Pharmacy. The historic city of Utrecht once a great religious centre is set around canals which form part of a medieval dockland development. A 14th century bell tower with city views stands opposite the gothic cathedral. Plush canal houses and vibrant cafés complete the scene. It has excellent transport links and is 30 minutes from Amsterdam and Schipol International Airport.
