Founded in 1669 this is the oldest university in south-east Europe. Zagreb is situated in north-west Croatia close to the border with Slovenia. It is a small metropolis; locals enjoy sailing on and swimming in Lake Jarun in the summer and skiing on Mt. Medvednica in the winter. The university offers a variety of degrees in English including in Medicine Veterinary Science and Dentistry. Medical students are expected to attend classes in the Croatian language. Zagreb has a small international airport.
