University of Windsor

Overview

Assumption College, founded in 1857, was incorporated into the new University of Windsor in 1963. Today this comprehensive and research university offers over 100 undergraduate courses, mostly at the large campus in Windsor close to Ambassador Bridge and the Detroit River with its 20km of waterfront paths. This is Canada’s southernmost university, which is situated on the south western tip of Ontario, just 4km south of Detroit USA across the river and close to Lake Erie. Windsor is an ethnically diverse city, which is reflected in the food – from great Lebanese to homely Italian cuisine. It is a small town feel but with big-city amenities through the tunnel or over the bridge in Detroit. Windsor has a small international airport and very good road and rail links.
