This is a modern university with its roots firmly in the 19th century. It was granted degree-awarding powers in 2004 and became the University of Winchester in 2005. The campus is within walking distance of the beautiful, historic cathedral city of Winchester which was voted The best Place to Live in England 2016 in the Times and Sunday Times survey. It is situated in Hampshire in the south of England close to areas of outstanding natural beauty, the South Downs and the New Forest, and has very good road and rail links to London, 112km away. University managed accommodation is guaranteed to first year undergraduate students who make the university a firm choice. A wide range of foundation and honours’ degree courses is offered, many of which are applied.
