Overview

This institution with its roots in the 19th century was granted university status in 1990. It offers Veterinary Medicine in English and its educational farms and field stations are situated out of the main city of Cluj which has a large student quarter characterised by its book shops cafés and bohemian open air bars. The town has some interesting old buildings and is within reach of the medieval towns and castles of Transylvania including Bran Castle. The Carpathian Mountains offer both hiking and skiing opportunities. It is served by a small international airport and has a good rail service and road network.
