Overview

Founded in 1974 in response to the need for more vocational training in the Fraser Valley area, UFV was awarded degree granting status in 1988 and offers 15 bachelor courses, including in Agricultural Science and Art History. The 85 acre Chilliwack campus is sited in Canada Education Park, 34 km east of Abbotsford. Abbotsford is about 72km east of downtown Vancouver. Vancouver with its great cultural diversity was settled by the ancestors of the First Nations people 10,000 years ago; Europeans arrived in the late 18th century. Situated on the southwest coast of the Pacific Ocean close to the border with the USA this densely populated city boasts forests, mountains and ocean. Vancouverites can ski in the morning and be on the beach in the afternoon. It has excellent transport links.
