Overview

Founded in 1973 this research, science and education oriented university is a member of YUFE (Young Universities for the Future of Europe). It is situated in Rijeka on the northern Adriatic and this small city on Kraner Bay is Croatia’s main port from where boats go to the islands.This holiday region is known for its hot, dry summers and humid, mild winters. Beaches and sea swimming attract the tourists. The main promenade is known for its Hapsburg era buildings and the theatre has a ceiling painted by the great artist Klimt. It lies about 80 kilometres south of the Italian city of Trieste and is about two hours by public transport, bus, from Croatia’s capital city, Zagreb and the airport. The train connection takes considerably longer.
