Glasgow is situated on the river Clyde in Scotland’s western Lowlands. It has excellent transport links- road, rail and air. The city is home to the Scottish Opera and Ballet and has outstanding art galleries and museums as well as a vibrant music scene and excellent shopping and sporting facilities including a velodrome. It was voted the world’s friendliest city in the Rough Guide survey. The university was founded in 1451 and today occupies three main campuses. The main site is the Gilmorehill campus, 5km west of the city centre; at the Garscube campus veterinary sciences are taught and the Dumfries campus houses the School of Inderdisciplinary Studies. Dumfries is a small town in southwest Scotland. Honours degrees are usually studied over four years. Most new students are guaranteed accommodation.
