Founded in 1457 this university has buildings modern and old all over the medieval town. Freiburg nestles in the valley surrounded by the hills of the Black Forest and has a micro climate which makes it Germany’s warmest city and it is also the ‘greenest’. The first Passivhaus was built here. The university offers a B.A. in Liberal Arts and Sciences in English. The city is one hour north of Basel with its international airport and excellent road and rail links.
