Camerino is a very small hill town on a ridge (altitude 670m.) between two rivers in the Marche on the eastern side of central Italy. Not much has changed since medieval times. It has both a bishopric and an old university. Unfortunately there was serious damage to the old town (centro storico) in the earthquake in autumn 2016. The university offers Bachelor degrees (laurea) in Biosciences and Biotechnology and Geological Natural and Environmental Sciences in English at the Camerino campus. It is about 70km from Ancona on the east coast which has excellent international rail links and an airport. Ancona is reached by road or rail.
