Université du Québec à Chicoutimi

Overview

UQAC was founded in 1969 and is a part of the large network of the francophone Université de Québec. Chicoutimi, on the confluence of the Saguenay and Chicoutimi Rivers, is situated in the heart of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, an area renowned for the beauty of the fjord, the vast lake and cycle tracks. It has further campuses at Alma and Saint Félicien, both of which are close by and also at Sept-Îles, 551 km to the East on the Saint Lawrence River in the region of Charle-voix. The Chicoutimi campus offers a good number of baccalauréat (1er cycle) programs. The modern buildings and facilities are linked by paths and underground passages – especially advantageous in the winter months. UQAC is about 201km north of Québec city, just over 2 hours by road. There are regular flights from Saguenay airport to Montréal, Toronto and Sept-Îles.
