Overview

Founded in 1343 but a seat of learning from the 11th century and home to Europe’s oldest academic botanical garden this elite university offers an International Programme in Humanities which is taught in English in the first year in which students are immersed in the language and culture of Italy. Teaching is in Italian in the second and third years. Pisa most famous for the cathedral campanile (the leaning tower) its cathedral and baptistery is a city of amazing architecture and has a vibrant café and bar scene. With its excellent transport connections it is an ideal starting point for exploring Tuscany. It is situated close to the Mediterranean coast in central Italy and has an international airport.
