Founded in 1925 the university is in Bari in Apulia (Puglia) in southern Italy. This large regional capital has four urban sectors. The old town with its romanesque cathedral and historic buildings is built on a peninsula between two harbours on the Adriatic coast. There is a small international airport with regular flights to Rome (one hour) which is 430km to the North. Naples is 250km due west and can be reached by road. The university offers a six year programme in Medicine in English.
