Umea University

Overview

Situated in the mid northern region on the east coast of Sweden the university was founded in 1965. It has developed enormously and offers Bachelor programmes in English in Life Sciences and Fine Arts at the Umea campus. International fee paying students are guaranteed accommodation initially. Known for its museums and cultural institutions Umea was European Capital of Culture 2014. It is home to Europe’s greatest museum collection of vintage guitars. Founded in 1622 the town was home to indigenous Sami people. Today it is proud of its many restaurants bars and green spaces. There is a local airport- flights to Stockholm 637km to the South take one hour. It has good road and rail connections and a ferry to Finland.
