Trakia is situated in the small city of Stara Zagora in the South of Bulgaria which was rebuilt after the 2nd World War but does have ancient classical sites. The nearest airport is in Plovdiv 85km away. Several colleges merged in 1995 to create this university which offers Medicine and Veterinary Science in English. There is an entrance test for Medicine. Prospective students should check whether the learning of Bulgarian is compulsory. Since 2007 Bulgaria in south-east Europe has been a member state of the EU.
