Overview

Situated on the Mersey estuary in the northwest of England, Liverpool was a renowned international port. Chosen European Capital of Culture in 2007, a programe of regeneration has created a modern vibrant city with a beautiful waterfront which values its traditions and great buildings. It is home to Tate Liverpool, the renowned Walker Gallery and the International Slavery Museum as well as being the birthplace of The Beatles. There are excellent road, rail and air links. Founded in 1881 the university is housed in Victorian and contemporary buildings in the city centre. Its innovative Year in China Programme gives students the opportunity to spend a year at an English speaking Chinese university. It has an Honours Select Programme for Humanities and Social Sciences which allows students to design a degree to suit their specific needs.
