Manchester Metropolitan University

Overview

Manchester, the first great industrial city, is today a friendly, cosmopolitan and a vibrant, major cultural and entertainment centre in the northwest of England. It is home to the National Football Museum and over 100,000 students. The BBC’s Media City and the Lowry Art Gallery are close by in Salford. It has excellent transport links. With its roots in the 19th century the institution has developed and transformed and in 1992 became MMU and is now one of the largest campus universities in the UK. There is an emphasis on vocational education and employability. L.S.Lowry studied at the School of Art, now housed in the Benzie Building, an exciting and RIBA award-winning contemporary space. A second campus is located in Cheshire 56km away.
