Founded in 1972 this is the only francophone university in North America to offer programs from certificates and diplomas to PhDs (3ème cycle) via distance learning. It was inspired by the British model of the Open University and has been offering baccalauréat (1er cycle) programs since 1990, for example in ‘Information et Technologie de l’Information’. This institution belongs to the francophone Université de Québec network. The professors and teachers are located both in Montréal and Québec.
