Overview

The city is situated on the south coast close to the New Forest with excellent road, rail, sea and air links. With its waterfront and maritime heritage Southampton is one of the UK’s greenest cities. The university is on the estuary at the confluence of the Test and the Itchin. It has its foundations in 1856 with the School of Art and gained university status in 2005, now incorporating the Warsash Maritime Academy. A variety of industry focused courses is offered from HND/C’s , to Foundation and Honours’ degrees. The Warsash Academy speciaises in careers at sea and the university offers specialised courses including Yacht Design.
