A number of institutions from across South Westphalia were amalgamated in 2002. At the campus in Soest a Bachelor degree in Business Information with Informatics is offered in English. This lively town famous for its medieval churches and green sandstone buildings is situated on the ancient salt route between the hilly Sauerland and the flat Münsterland with its water castles. It is 40 minutes from Dortmund with its small international airport in north-west Germany. Road and rail links are very good.
