Simon Fraser University

Overview

Established in 1965 SFU is Canada’s top comprehensive university. Arthur Erickson and Geoffrey Massey designed the original iconic buildings on beautiful Burnaby Mountain, just 20km from downtown Vancouver. Today there are two further campuses in Surrey (Vancouver Metro) and Vancouver. The university was the first Canadian member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the world’s largest college sports association. It offers a broad range of undergraduate programs. Vancouver with its great cultural diversity was settled by the ancestors of the First Nations people 10,000 years ago; Europeans arrived in the late 18th century. Situated on the southwest coast of the Pacific Ocean close to the border with the USA this densely populated city boasts forests, mountains and ocean. Vancouverites can ski in the morning and be on the beach in the afternoon. It has excellent transport links.
