Overview

St Mary’s, originally a Roman Catholic foundation, has undergone many changes since being awarded degree granting status in 1841. Today it is a compact and cosmopolitan campus and one of Canada’s most international universities with students from over 100 countries. It became a public institution in 1970 and offers a broad range of undergraduate programs. It is the only Canadian university to offer a B.A. in Entrepreneurship. Halifax, the provincial capital, is situated on the Atlantic coast and is regarded as one of the friendliest cities in the world. Haligonians (the people of Halifax) enjoy a vibrant and thriving arts, theatre, live music and culinary scene. This green city with its parks and open spaces also offers plenty of outdoor activities including, surfing, kayaking and sailing. Halifax has an international airport.
