Founded in 1969 and situated in South Karelia in south-east Finland the university has campuses in Lappeenranta and Imatra. It offers a number of Bachelor degrees in English mainly at Lappeenranta (Nursing Engineering and Business Management) and Hospitality Management at Imatra 35 km away. The town of Lappeenranta is by Lake Saimaa close to the Russian border. It is proud of its harbour museums theatres and old fortress. Imatra is on the frontier with Russia. Lappeenranta has a small international airport.
