Ruskin College is an independent educational institution in East Oxford, a bus ride from the city centre. Founded in 1899 to provide university-standard education to working class people it has remained true to its founding philosophy. It offers a range of access courses and basic qualifications in Mathematics and English. A limited number of degree courses are available, for example in Social Work. It aims to suit the level of study to the skills and experience of applicants. It is a residential college housed in modern buildings. Students are members of the Oxford Union and can use its sporting facilities and clubs.
