A constituent member of London univesity since 1900, the college was founded in 1886 to be one of the first institutions in the UK to give women access to higher education. The iconic Founder’s Building is still the centre-piece of the 135 acre parkland with its arboretum. Royal Holloway is situated in Egham, about 40km west of London and under an hour away by train. It is also close to the Royal Estate of Windsor Great Park. The main campus has a friendly community atmosphere and the historic site is being developed to create a campus for the 21st century. It offers a broad range of undergraduate courses and Music is particularly well regarded.
