Founded as the National Academy of Music in 1847 the RCS offers courses in Dance, Drama and Music. It has the only performance degree for deaf actors in the UK. In 2017 it was placed in the QS rankings in the top three in the world. Glasgow is home to the Scottish Opera and Ballet and the National Theatre of Scotland. The wealth of this vibrant ciy was gained through ship-building and it has fine Victorian and Art Nouveau buildings. It has an international airport and excellent road and rail links.
