With 19th century roots and incorporating the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture (1957) it was granted university status in 1992. The Garthdee campus was opened in 1998, a beautiful site close to the river Dee and 3 kilometres southwest of historic Aberdeen city centre, on the east coast in North Scotland with its excellent air and rail links to the rest of the UK. It offers a range of courses including Business, Social Sciences, Engineering and Architecture. Many courses involve a work placement and it boasts the lowest unemployment rate for graduates in Scotland.
