Poznan University of Medical Sciences

Overview

Founded originally in 1919 this research university offered its first programmes in English in 1993. It is one of the largest and best medical schools in Poland and offers a four year MD in Medicine for graduate students (with an appropriate first degree – aimed at the American and Canadian market) and a six year MD for school leavers. Situated in central western Poland 255km east of Berlin Poznan is an important cultural and business centre on the River Warta. A medieval city which flourished in the Renaissance period it suffered 17th century invasions and terrible destruction in WWII. The city centre has been beautifully reconstructed and is known for the Town Hall clock with its mechanical goats which butt heads at noon. It has an international airport and very good rail links.
