Nipissing University

This primarily undergraduate university was founded in 1967 as an associate of Laurentian University. It gained its charter as an independent institution in 1992. It is known for its excellence in teacher education. The Nipissing campus is situated on the shore of Lake Nipissing in northern Ontario and is 382km north of Toronto. There are additional campuses at Brantford, 105km from Toronto, and Muskoka, 247 km south of Nipissing – between Nipissing and Toronto. North Bay is on Nipissing First Nation Peoples’ territory. Its main appeal is its lakeside location and its access to the surrounding countryside. The campus has hiking trails and a waterfall and is close to a ski and snowboarding hill and surrounded by Canadian Shield Forest.
