This small primarily undergraduate university was established in 1873 and, before women were politically emancipated, it was dedicated to the education of women. Known as the Mount, the green treed campus overlooks the Bedford Basin and is about 7km north of downtown Halifax on the island of Nova Scotia. This provincial capital, is situated on the Atlantic coast and is regarded as one of the friendliest cities in the world.
