Dating back to 1839 the College has been granting degrees since 1862, at that time named Mount Allison Wesleyan College. Today it is a small institution, which is consistently ranked amongst the best of Canada’s primarily undergraduate colleges by Maclean’s. It offers Liberal Arts and Science programs and in partnership with Moncton Flight College a BSc in Aviation. The compact campus is 5 minutes from the town centre. Sackville may be very small but it picturesque. Students double the population in term time. The university is home to one of the oldest art galleries in the country. Set on the edge of the Tantramar Marshes, the on campus Waterfowl Park with its boardwalk over the wetlands is on a major bird migration route. Here in winter there is cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Sackville in the south eastern tip of Canada is on the Trans-Canada- Hwy and there are regular flights to Toronto. Ottawa and New York etc.
