Founded in 1887 this teaching and research intensive institution is consistently in the world’s top 100 universities. It offers a broad range of undergraduate courses. Medicine is a graduate program. The main campus has excellent facilities including the McMaster Museum of Art, one of the country’s finest galleries. Situated in the port city of Hamilton on the most westerly edge of Lake Ontario, the main campus is connected to kilometres of nature trails. The central core of the site, 30 acres, is reserved for pedestrians and cyclists. Hamilton, a city of half a million, has very good transport connections to the university and to the wider world. It has an international airport and is 68.5km from Toronto. The Niagara Escarpment, a huge forested ridge dotted with conservation areas and waterfalls, divides this lively city.
