Situated in central London, close to Covent Garden and the Thames, this university was founded in 1895 forthe betterment of society and became a member of London University in 1900. From the very beginning women were welcommed. One of the founders was Beatrice Webb. LSE offers Economics and Political Science subjects and is the only UK university specialising in Social Sciences in which it has a worldwide reputation.
