Founded in 1991 this university offers a small number of Bachelor courses in English including in Business Information Technology and Nursing for which basic Finnish skills are required. The campus is about 3km from the centre of Lahti and close to the shores of Lake Vesijärvu. Lahti the centre of the economic region is the gateway to the Finnish lake district. Lake Vesijärvu is linked via the Väasky canal to Lake Päijänne in central Finland. The city is 100km and 50 minutes by high-speed train from the capital Helsinki with its international airport.
