In 2017 Kymenlaakso and Mikkeli universities merged to form Xamk. Bachelor degrees in English are offered at the campuses in Kouvola and Mikkeli. Situated in south-east Finland (230km from Helsinki) Mikkeli is on Lake Saimaa with its opportunities for water sports in the summer and skating in the winter. Kouvola 139km east of Helsinki is a vibrant regional centre close to the Repovesi National Park with its clear lakes forests and hills. At Kouvola there is Games Design and at Mikkeli Information Technology. Road links to Helsinki are good.
