Karolinska Institutet

Founded in 1870 this is one of the World’s largest and a highly prestigious medical university with an emphasis on research in the whole field of medicine and medical care. In 1895 Alfred Nobel bequeathed to the institute the right to select the Nobel laureate in Physiology or Medicine. It offers Global programmes in English mainly Master’s and one Bachelor course in Biomedicine. Fee paying students are guaranteed accommodation in the first year. The two campuses Hudding to the Northwest and Solna to the South are in easy reach of Stockholm centre. Situated in south central Sweden where Lake Mälaran flows into the Baltic Sea the city stretches over 14 islands linked by bridges and ferries. The Swedes call the city ‘beauty on water’. The old town (Gamla Stan) boasts razor thin cobblestone streets a 13th century cathedral and fine ochre coloured buildings. It is a city renowned for its good design and as a foodie hub. In the winter there is skating on Lake Mälaran. Transport links are very good- ferry road rail and air.
