Situated in south central Sweden where Lake Mälaran flows into the Baltic Sea the city stretches over 14 islands linked by bridges and ferries. The Swedes call the city ‘beauty on water’. The old town (Gamla Stan) boasts razor thin cobblestone streets a 13th century cathedral and fine ochre coloured buildings. It is a city renowned for its good design and as a foodie hub. In the winter there is skating on Lake Mälaran. Transport links are very good- ferry road rail and air.
