The campus is situated 2km north-west of the old town in Tartu which is 185km south of the capital Tallinn with its international airport. Students make up 25% of the population of the small city. Tartu is close to the conservation area of Alam Pedja with its old rivers and the habitat of rare birds. Established in 1951 as the Agricultural University it was restructured in 2005. It specialises in forestry and agriculture and offers Veterinary Science in English.
