This interdisciplinary educational institute for art architecture and design was established in 1947. It is housed in the iconic White Lady building (de Witte Dame) which was built in 1928 as the Philip’s lighting Factory. De Witte Dame also houses a public library and art galleries. Its Bachelor courses taught in English are not classically named. Students are awarded a Bachelor of Design and the approach is ‘thinking and designing through making’. Eindhoven is a centre for innovation and design and often referred to as the Brainport of the Netherlands. It is in the southern Netherlands within easy reach of Germany and Belgium. It has a small international airport and a direct train link to Schipol International Airport in Amsterdam. Brussels Cologne and Amsterdam are 90 minutes by train.
