Leicester, the home of De Montfort, is situated in the Midlands in the heart of England. It has excellent transport links by road, rail and air in all directions. It is 1hour 30minutes by train from London. The university has its roots in the School of Art, founded in 1870. University status was conferred in 1992 and it now offers a broad range of degrees. It is home to the Confucius Institute which is a hub for learning Mandarin and experiencing Chinese culture. The campus is in the city centre, a vibrant entertainment and commercial district. Leicester is home to Britain’s most multi-cultural high street and it is also the place where the bones of Richard III were found under a car park.
