Brunel, named after the famous engineer, achieved university status in 1966 but its roots are much older, going back to 1798. In the 50’s the Brunel College of Technology pioneered sandwich courses, linking with local employers. Today many of the degree courses are available as a thick sandwich offering a placement in industry. Many courses are accredited by professional institutions. The large self-contained campus is in Uxbridge, West London, 1.5km from Uxbridge underground station from where it is 40 minutes to Baker St. It has world class sporting facilities on the modern spacious campus and first year undergraduate students are offered on campus accommodation.
