Bishop’s University

Overview

Founded in 1843 and granted a Royal Charter in 1853, Bishop’s is a predominantly undergraduate and residential institution. Although it is small, it offers a good range of programs and teacher education remains a strength. The 550 acre campus boasts very good indoor and outdoor facilities and is situated in bilingual (French/ English) Lennoxville, about 6km south of central Sherbrooke and surrounded by rivers, forests, farms and rolling hills. Sherbrooke is on the confluence of Saint-François and Magog Rivers and has a number of heritage sights, cultural opportunities and natural attractions, including Mount Bellevue Park where in the summer months mountain biking and hiking take over from the winter activities of snowshoeing and skiing. Sherbrooke is about 194km south of Québec and 153km east of Montréal in south eastern Canada. Road links are very good and there is a small airport.
