Overview

Situated between the mountains and the sea the university was granted its Royal Charter in 1885. The cathedral city of Bangor is on the coast in North Wales. Direct trains run to London, Manchester and Cardiff and ferries from Holyhead sail to Ireland. The School of Oceanic Sciences is one of the largest university centres teaching Marine Sciences in Britain and the course in Terrestrial and Marine Ecology is the only one of its kind in the UK.
