This small undergraduate university is both one of the most culturally diverse campuses in Canada and at the same time a friendly close-knit community. Established in 1965, the university was granted its charter in 2008 and has three faculties: Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities. It offers a small number of bachelor degrees. Situated in the small city of Sault Ste. Marie, usually known as the Soo, the green campus with its wooded trails is close to the rapids of St Mary’s River, which links Lakes Huron and Superior. There is a bridge across the river to the town of the same name in Michigan USA. Situated in south eastern Canada, right on the U.S. border, the Soo is known for its canal and sandstone buildings and offers a good range of outdoor activities from hiking and kayaking in the summer to winter sports in the winter. It has a small international airport and lies on the main Trans-Canada Highway.
