Overview

Founded in 1919, but with its origins dating back to 1611, this is a research university which offers a number of undergraduate bachelor courses which are taught in English. These include English Linguistics, International Relations, Liberal Arts and Sciences and Central European and Balkan Studies. The city of Poznań is situated in west central Poland midway between the capitals of Germany and Poland, Berlin, and Warsaw.The old market square in the centre of the city is dominated by a fine renaissance town hall and the cathedral is one of the oldest churches in Poland, originally founded in the 10th century. It boasts numerous parks and lakes including Lake Malta (Maltańskie) with its facilities for watersports. The city is famous for its croissants which are a kind of Danish pastry covered in white icing and filled with white poppy seeds. There is even the Poznań Croissant Museum.
