Founded in 1950 this medical university has its roots in the Dental School (1809). The English division was established in 1993 and Medicine is offered in English. International students learn basic Polish. The campus is situated 6km from the old town and close to Pole Mokotwskie a large park with lakes sculptures and cycle paths and home to the National Library. Warsaw suffered great destruction in WWII and the varied architecture reflects its turbulent past. The beautifully restored old town and market square with its pastel buildings contrast with communist concrete and modern steel and glass buildings. Today it is a vibrant and lively city of culture with excellent transport links.
