Technical University of Delft

Overview

Founded in 1842 this is the oldest and largest Dutch public technical university and it has a worldwide reputation for engineering and technology boasting three Nobel Laureates. Its campus of 161 hectares with an extensive bike and footpath network is one of the largest in the world. It offers a number of Bachelor degrees in English including in Aerospace Engineering Computer Science and Engineering and Nanotechnology. Delft once the home of the Royal House of Orange is a friendly and historic student city surrounded by canals. The famous Delft Blue pottery has been made here since the 16th century. It was home to artists Johannes Vermeer and Pieter de Hooch and the father of the microscope Antoni van Leeuwenhoet. It is 12 minutes by train from the capital Den Haag and 45 minutes from Amsterdam with its huge international airport (Schipol).
