Exeter is an ancient and compact cathedral city on the river Exe in the Southwest of England. It is close to the Dartmoor National Park and the magnificent Devon coast with its coves and sandy beaches. There are good road and rail links to Bristol and London. The Schools of Arts and Science were founded in 1851 and full university status was achieved in 1955. The Peninsula Medical School opened in 2000. The green Streatham campus, with its lakes, parkland and woodland, is 15 minutes walk from the city centre. The St Luke’s campus is home to Sport, Health and Medical Sciences. The small, friendly Penryn campus in Cornwall also offers some degree courses. In 2015-16 Exeter was named The Times and Sunday Times Sports University of the year.
