University of Alberta

Overview

Opened in 1908 UAlberta is one of the top Canadian universities with international recognition. It offers a broad range of bachelor courses and is also a research university. Currently UAlberta boasts the highest employment rate for its graduates in Canada. Four of the five campuses are situated in the large modern city of Edmonton, the capital of Alberta province in the West of Canada, which is very cold for much of the year. In Edmonton outdoor sporting activities for example skiing and snowshoeing in the winter, are available. It is known as Canada’s Festival City because it hosts so many and such a variety of festivals throughout the year. The Elk Island National Park, which boasts the highest density of wild hoofed animals in the world outside the Serengeti, is just 49km from the city. Edmonton has an international airport and very good road links.
