The Edmunston campus of the francophone Université de Moncton is the only university in north western New Brunswick. In 1953 the Collège Saint-Louis became the Université de Saint- Louis and in 1973 merged with Moncton. In 1985 the School of Forestry Sciences was opened and a baccalauréat in Forest Management (Aménagement des Forêts) is offered. The campus sits on the edge of the small French speaking town of Edmundston close to the Saint John River. It is at the eastern end of the Petit Témis Interprovincial Linear Park, a 134km long cycling and hiking trail. New Brunswick has several international airports, the nearest of which is at Bathurst (239km).
